Understand.com® Releases Spine Animation Library to Educate Patients on Complex Spinal Conditions and Surgical Procedures

new spine animation library

A library of medically reviewed animations that can be licensed and accessed on multiple platforms.

Global medical education company Understand.com™ is proud to announce the release of their Spine Animation Library, now available to medical practices and healthcare clinics all over the world. The Spine Animation Library was conceived in conjunction with UnderstandSpineSurgery.com, a patient website dedicated to delivering medical content on spine conditions and treatments. The library consists of over 30 medical animations that accurately and sensitively visualize complex conditions and surgical procedures.

Dr. Jeff Fischgrund, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery, acted as medical advisor in the production and review of the Spine Animation Library. A member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Fischgrund has authored several articles and contributed to textbooks on the topic of spinal surgeries. He has lectured on the subjects of spine trauma and reconstructive surgery, and is a valued instructor to medical students, orthopaedic residents, and spine fellows. With Dr. Fischgrund’s experience and expertise, each animation in the library was developed and reviewed for total accuracy.

SPINE CONDITIONS
Conditions of the spine are explained in detail and include information on how the condition affects normal anatomy, the pathology behind the condition, and treatments used to effectively manage the patient’s symptoms. Animations include examples of spine conditions that are degenerative, congenital, or from trauma, and that describe changes in spine structure and function.

SPINE PROCEDURES
The Spine Library also includes a comprehensive collection of surgical animations that cover techniques for preparing bone grafts and stabilizing the spine; common procedures with and without instrumentation; and a variety of surgical approaches including minimally invasive procedures.

Patients can access the animations from a variety of platforms, from the comfort of home or the convenience of the doctor’s office. The Spine Library animations introduce patients step-by-step to the conditions and procedures that affect them. Visualizing the anatomy and the surgical process allows patients to better understand their condition, and can improve their confidence and increase compliance.
