3D Medical Animator/Illustrator

What we are looking for

We are seeking an exceptional, experienced 3D animator and illustrator to develop high quality and medically accurate animations and illustrations. Applicants should have a strong comprehension of anatomy and medical terminology. Superior communication skills are essential. Candidates must be able to work directly with surgeons and custom clients to produce accurate animations and illustrations.

What you may be doing

This position offers a unique opportunity to create animations and illustrations from the ground up. We are looking for someone who can research a surgical procedure and write the accompanying animation script, model medical devices, make antibodies flowing through a blood vessel look beautiful, and everything in between. Versatility and creativity are the staples of this position.

Finally, we are looking for someone who wants their work to matter. We help surgeons, scientists, and medical device companies explain complex concepts to patients to help give them the understanding necessary to make informed decisions about their health. We bridge the gap between confusing medical terminology and procedures, and your grandmother undergoing knee replacement surgery.

What you need to know

  • Proficient in 3ds Max or comparable 3D software such as Maya or Cinema 4D, with strong skills including modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, and rendering
  • Excellent skills in composition, production, and post-production within the Adobe Creative Cloud Applications including Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator
  • Proficient in storyboarding
  • Proficient in 2D illustration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and the principles of medical illustration/animation
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to multitask and prioritize a variety of jobs
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively both within and outside of the animation department
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in medical illustration/animation

What you should have

  • Experience with Mudbox and/or ZBrush
  • Experience with advanced animation techniques such as rigging, morphers, and particle systems
  • Experience with VRay
  • Experience editing audio
  • At least one year experience working as a Medical Animator

Front-End Web Developer

What we are looking for

We are searching for a talented web developer specializing in wiring JavaScript based user interfaces to APIs. The ideal candidate will have experience in several front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, and Knockout. A degree in Computer Science is preferred, but applicants with 3 to 4 years' experience in relevant areas will be considered. Strong written and verbal communication skills, an eye for detail, and a demonstrable passion for front-end development will also go a long way.

Given the unwired HTML and CSS for a web application, you will translate the user interface into a set of JavaScript-based components, subsequently wiring those components to a restful API. You will organize your code in a consistent and easily navigable fashion, you will adhere to a defined coding style guide, and you will write with readability and maintainability in mind at all times. You will write unit tests for all of your code, and document facets of the application as necessary. Lastly, you will research and suggest new technologies that may be relevant to the development process.
