Understand.com® is focused on being the world’s greatest medical education company; we create insanely great medical content and design user-friendly learning solutions.

After nine years in the medical device industry, Darik Volpa witnessed a huge disconnect in communication between surgeons and patients. Most of the time doctors were too busy or lacked the skill set to communicate well with patients, and patients were usually confused with strange terminology or too nervous to ask the right questions. These opportunities led Darik to found Understand.com® in May of 2003.

Understand is a global medical education company with thousands of clients operating in 34 countries. Our medical animations enable physicians to better educate their patients, while our proprietary e-Learning platform gives pharmaceutical and medical device companies the ability to effectively train their employees and describe their products to physicians. Understand’s world-class 3D medical animations are at the core of the learning experience; our animated content clearly explains complex MOAs, disease pathology, surgical techniques, step-by-step procedures, and treatment methods for an assortment of conditions.

To date, Understand.com® has educated over 10,000,000 patients worldwide with over 3,000 physicians licensing our patient education content. Strategic corporate partners include Johnson & Johnson, Allergan, Mentor, Stryker, AAOS, ASPS, and numerous medical device companies.

company culture

However you arrive to work, whether by pedal or foot, our caffeine machine will be ready to deliver your cup of joe. A noontime game of hoops or a cold beverage serves as a good way to recharge. Let’s not forget we’re a profitable company focused on growth, hard work, and a passion for innovation; this mindset, along with our company culture, attracts the best and brightest and is a key ingredient to our success.

Dress Code

Some days it’s shorts and flip flops, other days it might be jeans and a Hawaiian shirt. Occasionally we put on a suit and tie for those big, power meetings.

If it’s going to enhance your skill set and make you more productive and valuable – make a case… we’ll listen and evaluate. We believe that happiness and productivity come from well trained and skilled employees.

Social Functions

We are a social group. Many of our activities are spontaneous and created on the fly: a limo caravan through Reno, a cooking class, bungee jumping, karaoke at 3 AM. While other events are planned and practiced: our annual Kickball Championship, a charity game against local gamers, or the Tech Olympics where we team up to challenge neighboring businesses. And you never know what will happen inside the office: darts, Call of Duty tournament, beer pong, or a trip to the movies. Needless to say, we are big fans of fun.

We are a competitive group who thrives on success, having fun, and creating the greatest medical content in the world. If you are oozing with talent and want to be a part of our crew, we want to hear from you.
